Public Health Professionals
Public health professionals may work in many environments addressing various health issues. They may work at the local, state, or federal level or for academic and private institutions.
The VectorED Network will utilize Extension’s National Framework for Health Equity to provide training and information based on the needs of the communities reaching out to Extension institutions. This includes engaging with communities to identify barriers to optimal health and delivering culturally sensitive and informal programming to promote equitable well-being
Our public health professionals objectives are:
1 Create a collaborative network of national, state, and local public health agencies, pest control organizations, and Extension professionals.
2 Work with state Departments of Health to evaluate public health messaging regarding vector-borne diseases.
3 Train healthcare professionals in tick identification, pathogens, and updated patient treatment and care using training modules hosted at the CDC and new materials based upon needs assessments.
Who does this benefit?
These goals benefit public health agencies and healthcare professionals by fostering collaboration and sharing resources. Improved public health messaging ensures accurate information about vector-borne diseases, while enhanced training for healthcare providers on vector identification and pathogen management leads to better patient care. This coordinated approach strengthens disease prevention and response efforts, ultimately promoting public health and safety.
